Basic English word order is:

3.  subject-verb-object-place-time 2

4.  basic word order 1

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY GO WHERE:

  • between the subject and verb            I often work at home
  • after BE              She is usually happy
  • after the FIRST auxiliary or first word of the auxiliary    We are never going to do that.

5.  basic word order, including adverb of frequency
6.  put the adverb in the right order

NEGATIVES GO WHERE:

  • after an auxiliary verb      She does not like fish.
  • after “to” in an infinitive      I like to not cook sometimes.
  • before base form when base form is the second verb    She let me not finish my HW.

8.  put the negative between aux and verb in progressive
